How to Track Invalid Clicks to Safeguard Your Adsense Account?

Lately, many blogs (including us) are facing this issue of being bombarded with invalid clicks on adsense ads – with an aim to get their adsense accounts blocked.

This activity is usually carried out by your rivals or those who are not happy with your existence, call it professional jealousy, personal grudge or any other possible thing.

So here are tips to track invalid adsense clicks, to make sure you are on safe side.

Frequently Monitor of your Adsense Account

• Make sure that you are monitoring your adsense account at least once a day, 3-4 times a day is even better.
• Keep a watch on CTR (Click through rate) – to make sure it’s around your daily average
• If your CTR goes significantly high, then it’s time to start worrying and to do the necessary to make sure you are safe.

Tracking Invalid Adsense Clicks:

If there’s an invalid click activity in your adsense account – there are chances that Google will suspend your account without asking you anything. You will be given only one chance to prove that the clicks were invalid, and didn’t originate from your computer or your friends’ computer.

Google may ask you for IP details or other logs that you may provide them in order to get your account reinstated.

We know that you have Google analytics installed but unfortunately Google Analytics doesn’t provide much details about the visitors, such as their IP addresses, exit links and so on.

So what to do in this situation?

• Register an account on statcounter.com (I am assuming you are familiar with basic setup, hence not going deep into details)
• Follow the wizard to add new project (i.e. is your website)
• Install the code on your website provided by statcounter.com – there’s an option to deploy invisible code (meaning that no counter button will be displayed)
• You are good to go…

Statcounter will instantly start tracking your website for each single incoming visitor, outgoing links, or you can call them exit links, downloads and much more.

You need to focus on exit link activity to make sure that clicks on ads are valid – and there’s nothing suspicious going on. For this, go to your statcounter account, open the project you just created and check for stats, exit link activity being most crucial of them:

Don’t Receive Adsense PIN Code After 3 Attempt?

 Google Adsense sends a PIN code to every new publisher when their earnings touch $10 mark. Google needs the publisher to enter the PIN code mailed to them by standard mail in order to verify the address details of the publisher. However, there are circumstances where publishers don’t get their PIN code by mail even after trying for three times. This problem is happening mostly with the Asian publishers who belong to countries such as India, Pakistan, China, Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Bhutan etc.

Whenever a publisher earns $10 by displaying Adsense ads, Google send an PIN code to the publisher by standard mail. Publisher need to receive the PIN code and enter it to validate the PIN verification purpose. It normally takes 40 days for the mail to reach the publisher after reaching the $10 revenue mark. Now if the publisher does not receive the PIN code within 40 days, he can request for an reissue of PIN code. Again, if the publisher does not receive the PIN code after the second attempt, he can request it for the third and last time. But what if he does not receive it this time also?


You will be taken to an page where you need to enter your Google Adsense publisher ID, you can get it from the top right corner of your Adsense interface. Enter your publisher ID and submit your request. Once you submit your request, Google Support Team will contact you by email shortly (generally within 2 days). They will ask you to provide either your NIC or Bank statement or Utility Bill by email attachment as scanned copy. Simply scan one of those documents and send them.

Within 2-3 working days you will get an another email from the support team with the subject as “Your Adsense Account has been Validated”. That’s it. Now your Adsense account has been officially validated by

Google, you don’t need to enter the Adsense PIN code again and you will receive all your earnings till date in the next payment cycle.

There are some common mistakes made by advance or new users of Google Adsense. These mistakes lead to block account and give nothing from Google other than wastage of time and tension.

1. Never click your own ads in whatever way

Coincidentally this is number 1, because i want to tell you 85% of why Google Adsense ban you is because you either tried to be fun to test the system by clicking on your own ads or you gave an accidental click on your site. For those who tried to test the system, good luck, as for those who gave an accidental click, there is a way to help you not get ban, give Google Adsense a courtesy mail and tell them you accidentally click on your own ads and they will help you in some ways. Remember how you own up when you did something wrong, your parents forgive you.

2. Never Change or implement new codes in your Adsense

When you have configured your Adsense code, make sure you do not meddle with the script nor the ads codes. The only code that you may change are the color and banner size code, again i warn those who are not proficient in HTML to not try this, go back to the product and reset the configurations.

3. Open 1 Account for 10 websites

If you have 10 websites which you want to use Adsense, then 1 account is sufficient, there is no requirement for you to open another 10 more, even with 10 more a small mistakes can land all your accounts into the "publisher burying sections".

4. Give labels like sponsors or advertisements only

Do not misled your ads to your audiences, that is one of Google's principle, place labels like Sponsors, advertisements are fine but not "Click here for more" or "Great offers". Don't get banned by Google for such acts.

5. Never let your ads launch in a new browser

It is not advisable for your to change the coding in the first place and by adding a code like target ing ads to open in a new browser is against the TOS. Some publishers uses ads code in "Target=_blanck" that is against Google policies.

6. Do not join click farms that provide you click on your ads

They claimed that they’ll deliver clicks to your ads and all you do is to join and pay them by certain amount. Always keep in mind that using such methods to earn your clicks is highly prohibited. Don't pay money for things that don't return

7. Using 3rd party programs to improves impressions

The most important thing that you can do to improve your Google AdSense income is to increase the click-through rate or CTR For example,

*1000 pages visits, with a 1% CTR, is 10 clicks
*1000 page visits, with a 10% CTR, is 100 clicks

Which would you rather have? Google AdSense does not allow detailed discussions of actual CTR's but implementing the following hints and tips improved my AdSense income, literally overnight. If you are using the Leaderboard, Banner or Skyscraper adverts, then you are not using the most effective advert, in terms of CTR. By using the 336 x 280 Large Rectangles and 250 x 250 Square, you will instantly improve your CTR. Changing the colors of the text and background of your Google AdSense advert can also improve CTR.

You can do this by visiting colors palettes on the "AdSense for Content" page. The standard colors for the Linked Title is a royal blue and the advertiser-URL is a green. By changing the Linked Title to a dark blue and the Advertiser URL to a light grey, you will also improve your CTR and hence your income. If your page background is colored, then changing the background colors of your advert to match, making the advert blend in on the page, once again improves your CTR. Do experiment with what works for you site - for some sites, the right color could be yellow, purple or pink - find out what works for you and use it! *1000 page visits, with a 10% CTR, is 100 clicks

Which would you rather have? Google AdSense does not allow detailed discussions of actual CTR's but implementing the following hints and tips improved my AdSense income, literally overnight. If you are using the Leaderboard, Banner or Skyscraper adverts, then you are not using the most effective advert, in terms of CTR.
